Research Scientist
Company: MIT
Department: Materials Science Years: January 2016 - January 2017 |
Led the development of a large-scale, atomistic kinetic Monte Carlo simulation for studying dewetting phenomena in thin metal films. Transferred the techniques of big data and data science to develop algorithms that modeled the interactions of atoms in a lattice. Used in-memory databases to calculate positions and energies of particles during dewetting process. Parallelized algorithm using Bayesian statistics in order to efficiently use graphical processing units (GPUs) to perform massively scalable physical simulations.

Head of User Experience
Company: indico data solutions
Department: User Experience Years: Mar 2015 - Oct 2016 |
Manage all facets of user experience: website design and usability, community engagement, and developer relations. Created wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to help define the strategic direction of the company's product. Facilitated and ran user research, interviews, and observational studies to better understand how to improve the company's existing and future product offerings. Designed and built the online documentation of the company's primary product, a suite of online RESTful API services for software developers. Established the use of online engagement metrics to track the effectiveness of the blog, website, social media, and other outreach activities to drive quality traffic to the company's product.

Research Programmer - Educational Software
Company: Wolfram Research Inc.
Department: Education Software Years: Jan 2014 - Mar 2015 Duration: 1 year 2 months |
I am presently working on new software development projects related to education. I also spend some time on outreach, training, and business development.
|
Research Programmer - Special Projects
Company: Wolfram Research Inc.
Department: Special Projects Years: Nov 2012 - Dec 2013 Duration: 1 year 1 month |
I continued pursuing my interest in the accessibility of technical software for the blind while working in the special projects department. During this time, I also started working as a support developer for our business development team and also started contributing to some mainstream software development projects. My main responsibilities were:
|
R&D Fellow
Company: Wolfram Research Inc.
Department: Special Projects Years: July 2012 - Oct 2012 Duration: 3 months |
As a R&D Fellow at Wolfram Research I was involved in many projects of great personal interest, mainly focused on the accessibility of math and science for the blind.

Graduate Student Researcher
Company: Univ. California Riverside
Department: Physics & Astronomy Years: Jan 2009 - Sept 2012 Duration: 3 years 9 months |
I was under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Alexander Korotkov for three years. We worked on Weak Quantum Measurements, Decoherence Suppression, Quantum Error Correction, and Quantum Data Transfer. As a GSR in Dr. Korotkov's lab I was involved in many fascinating projects. Please see Research Interests for detailed descriptions of the topics I have worked on. The focus here is the professional skills that I developed and the tools that I used.
My responsibilities were to:
|
Teaching Assistant
Company: Univ. California Riverside
Department: Physics & Astronomy Years: Mar 2010 - June 2010 Duration: 3 months |
As a TA for calculus-based modern physics course I was in charge of facilitating weekly 30-student classroom discussion and problem solving sessions.
In this role I did the following:
|
Laboratory Instructor
Company: Univ. California Riverside
Department: Physics & Astronomy Years: Sept 2007 - Dec 2008 Duration: 1 year 3 months |
I spent four academic quarters instructing various laboratory classrooms. I was involved in all most areas of pedagogical structuring, except for choosing which experiments students would perform.. As a laboratory TA for the physics department at UCR I was in charge of facilitating a weekly 30-student exploratory laboratory designed to supplement traditional instructional lectures. I oversaw labs for four academic quarters in the following topics:
In this role I did the following:
|
Undergraduate Researcher
Company: Cal State Univ Fullerton
Department: Physics & Astronomy Years: Sept 2005 - Aug 2007 Duration: 2 years |
I was a very active member of Dr. Murtadha Khakoo's experimental electron scattering laboratory for over two years. I was involved in data acquisition/analysis, troubleshooting, and problem resolution. I was also in charge of machine fabrication and design. I was also involved in Physics Education Research with Dr. Michael Loverude at very basic level.
While working toward my BS in physics, I was also a member of Dr. Murtadha Khakoo's electron scattering laboratory. I was involved in typical tasks such as data acquisition and analysis, equipment control and calibration, and on-the-fly troubleshooting and problem resolution. I also held a very special position as the only physics student with full access to the campus machine shop. After training with the campus's only employed machinist, David Parsons, I fabricated an entire vacuum-friendly rotary table for the angular study of differential electron cross sections scattered off of various polyatomic targets. This is the time in my life when I truly found a passion for physics as a philosophy of discovery and understanding of the natural world. To view my publications that resulted from my time in this lab, please see my Publications list or my Curriculum Vitae.
I also worked with Dr. Michael Loverude on physics education research. I was in charge of interpreting and recording student responses on pedagogical-assessment quizzes. I would enter useful and relevant coded responses into a spreadsheet program for later statistical analysis.

Physics Tutor
Company: Cal State Univ Fullerton
Department: Physics & Astronomy Years: Sept 2005 - Aug 2007 Duration: 2 years |
In our department, we had an informal physics tutoring lounge that was open to any student enrolled in a course relating to physics. It was maintained on a voluntary basis of people willing to offer their time and experience for interested students. During my first class in physics I was introduced to the lounge. I immediately formed a study group that would meet and work together with the help of whoever was volunteering at the time of our meeting. I continued this study group throughout the remainder of my time in the department and would often come an hour early and help students who were currently enrolled in courses I had already taken. It is here that my passion for teaching was born and grew.
